About

Thank you so much for coming here to learn more about me!

About me
Hi, I’m ZHANG Fan (Grace).

I am currently a research assistant at the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media, City University of Hong Kong.
I earned my MSc in Health Informatics from Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University, and my BSc in Rehabilitation Therapy from Xuzhou Medical University. Trained as a physiotherapist in China, I also gained one year of clinical experience before transitioning into research.

My reserach interest

My research interests center around embodied interaction (XR/motion capture), movement research and soma design, and human perception (social computing), with a special focus on health, rehabilitation, and disability. I have worked on projects combining dance, motion capture, and avatars to rethink body representation and inclusive creativity; explored self-presentation in online dating profiles; and designed VR serious games for people living with dementia.

Outside of research
My life

I am a parrot feeder, cat lover, and passionate crocheter — a small reminder of the beauty in slow, careful making. This year, I also tried my hand at pinch pottery!
If you’re ever looking for food or travel advice, find me — I love discovering new places and activities (even though I have poor stamina). Recently, I’ve explored kayaking, surfing, skydiving, snorkeling, golf, and indoor climbing, and I practice Pilates regularly.

Contact

I am currently seeking PhD opportunities to further explore embodiment, human perception, and inclusive design in health.
